Belbek airport, also known as Sevastopol International Airport, is a small airport located in Sevastopol, Crimea. It was originally built by the Soviet Union in 1942 and has since undergone several renovations and upgrades. The airport serves mostly domestic flights within Russia and also some international flights to countries such as Turkey and Belarus. During the 2014 annexation of Crimea by Russia, Belbek airport was taken over by Russian forces and used for military purposes. It was later returned to civilian use in 2015. The airport has a single terminal building with several check-in counters, immigration and customs facilities, shops, and restaurants. Despite its small size, Belbek airport plays an important role in the transportation of people and goods in the region.
